Vaudeville Autographed Photos from the 1920s

(Millington, TN)

I recently was given a collection of about 90 8x10 Vaudeville photos (about 75 are autographed), and twenty postcard photos (about 15 autographed. All date from 1916 to 1926 (most of them are from 1920). I believe they were removed from a scrapbook.

They belonged to a relative of mine from Michigan, named Cy. My family tells me that he was a talent scout from 1915 to 1930, in Michigan. Most of the photos are "To Cy" but some are "To the Boys of the Orpheum."

I've researched some of the names: Will Oakland, Paul McCullough, Clark and McCullough (dressed as clowns), Morton Harvey, etc. The pictures range from head photos, to acrobats, to jugglers, to monkeys riding horses, to Japanese dancers (these have Japanese writing/signatures on the front and back).

Many of the photos have the names of the acts stamped on the back. If you would be interested the lot, let me know and I will send some photos.

Vaudeville Autographs

Unless you have signed photos of vaudeville stars who became big in the movies or some other endeavor, your photos are probably worth more as a collection. Very few collectors are looking for individual vaudeville stars, but there are some who collect entertainment history. If you want to sell them, I'd start the collection at a price you are comfortable with and see what happens.

If you want to upload some photos start another thread. Readers are more likely to comment on photos.
