Tony Curtis Autograph on Baseball Cap

by Donald Oliver
(Rockford, IL)

I was stationed in Germany when I went to West Berlin for a softball tournament. I visited the Burger King on the military post and Tony Curtis walked in!

I walked up to him with one of the other players and asked him for his autograph. He said that he would like to sign for me. I gave him my baseball cap and he signed it. I have had this cap signed by him for 23 years!

What an unusual place to spot a Hollywood star - a Burger King on a military post in Berlin.

The cap is probably going to be worth more to you as personal memorabilia than it is to someone else as a Hollywood collectible. Tony Curtis is a common autograph, mainly because he was so friendly to autograph collectors. In retirement, he even signed through the mail.

A Tony Curtis signature is worth $25. A good vintage signed photo is worth $125. Your cap is is going to be worth somewhere in that range, probably more titled towards the signature value. If you took a photo of Curtis that day, that would add value.
