Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods

I wrote Tiger Woods back in 1998, and he signed my golf magazine and sent it back. I have compared the item to other items signed in that period and it looks pretty good. Thoughts??

thanks

Mark

Tiger Woods Autograph

That's a tough one. I'll bet you've spent a lot of time over the last ten years wondering whether that autograph is authentic. If Tiger actually signed it, it would have been nice if he'd took an extra second to give you a better one.

He had already snagged a 40 million dollar contract with Nike by then, and he became the youngest winner of the Masters the year before your magazine was signed. He was also a major mainstream celebrity, who was no doubt swarmed by fans everywhere he went.

Tiger was already receiving thousands of autograph requests through the mail at that time, and that does make one wonder if he would take the necessary hours away from more lucrative and productive activities to sign autographs for free.

That's enough speculation against the autograph being authentic.

Tiger's autograph has changed over the years, and your autograph does looks like the way he was signing back then. Even the inscription looks like his handwriting.

An authentic Tiger Woods signed photo or magazine would retail in the $250-$300 range.

Tiger Wood signs through Upper Deck Authenticated now. Those autographs are going to be much higher.
