Signed Note from John Lennon

John Lennon and Yoko Ono

John Lennon and Yoko Ono

Hi. I just bought an auction of a storage unit and it belonged to a musician. Inside, I found an old photograph of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. On the back there is a note from Lennon that reads: "Steve, you have but to give it - Remember?! Stay a friend! Love, John Lennon". I am wondering if it has any value, and if so, what that value would be?

Thanks.
Doug

John Lennon Signed Note

You hit the jackpot with that storage unit. All of the autographs of the Beatles are valuable, and the autograph of John Lennon is by far the most valuable of the four. Your autograph has an inscription, but it is way beyond the typical inscription - John was expressing sincere sentiment. I suppose only John and Steve knew the meaning behind the words, but that only adds to the mystique of the piece, in my opinion.

John Lennon autographs are blue chip investments. Values have risen consistently since his death, and I think they will continue to rise for a long, long time.

It's difficult to put a price on a unique piece like this.

A John Lennon signed letter written entirely in his hand is worth in the $15,000 - $20,000 range. Yous is more of a note than a letter, so I don't think it would fall in that range. The value would be determined by who was in the pool of bidders at the time it was up for sale. It would be hard for me to part with this if it were mine, but I would go the auction route if I had to.
