by Deborah Carman
(California)

I have a Military Ball Program from 1963, Rose Maddox was a family friend. She signed the back "Sincerely Rose Maddox." Is this autograph of any value?

Rose Maddox Autograph
by: Anonymous

Rose Maddox started singing with the Maddox Brothers in the 1930s when she was only eleven years old. They were a hillbilly band who mixed comedy in with their music. As a solo artist she worked with Bill Monroe and Buck Owens. Rose performed and recorded music well into the early 1990s. She died in 1998 at age 71.

Rose Maddox was a very well known artist during her peak of popularity, and she should be in the Country Music Hall of Fame. She was born in Alabama but spent her most musically productive years in California, which is probably the reason that she is not in the HOF.

Her autograph on the program is worth in the $10 - $15 range. Most country music fans today would not recognize her name.
