Richard Nixon Autographs

My uncle owned an art gallery in Lauguna Beach, California. President Richard Nixon sent a friend to purchase a painting for him. Nixon then sent a note written on a photo of him standing with the painting. He signed "Thank You" at the bottom with his original signature.

I also have a copy of a letter on White House stationary from Nixon about the painting. His signature is at the bottom of the letter.

My uncle met him once when he came from his home in San Clemente, California to Laguna Beach.

This photo and letter were among my uncle's things that I received when he passed away.

Richard Nixon Autographs

Sitting presidents routinely use autopens for nonofficial correspondence, but is is possible that you have authentic autographs, considering that Nixon went shopping for the painting and must have personally connected with it.

If the autographs are authentic, the signed photo is worth in the neighborhood of $400, if all he wrote was "Thank You" in addition to his signature.

If the note was typed and then signed by Nixon, it is worth in the mid-100's. If it was personally handwritten by Nixon, it could be worth a lot more.

Autographs like these are really hard to estimate value, especially without seeing them. Unique content that gives insight into a president's personality can be very valuable.
