President Ronald Reagan Signed Photo

by Randy

When my father was going to the University of Illinois, he became friends with Ronald Reagan who was going to another Illinois university.

After their respective graduations, my parents married, and at the invitation of Reagan they went to Hollywood to celebrate their honeymoon. He was filming the movie Kings Row at the time. I have a picture of my parents with Ronald Reagan at the studio. Unfortunately, they failed to have it signed.

Years later, after he became President, my father had one of his close friends, Senator Richard Lugar take the photo to Washington and have it signed by President Reagan. He then mailed it back to my father along with a letter on official Senate stationery thanking my dad for letting him have the President sign his picture. I have them matted and mounted together at home and was just wondering what their worth was.

President Ronald Regan Signed Photo
by: Bill

If the autograph is authentic, your Ronald Reagan signed photo is worth in the $400 - $500 range. Sitting presidents usually answer routine correspondence with autopens, pre-prints or secretarials. In your case, it is possible you have an authentic autograph. The letter signed by Richard Lugar is worth about $25 by itself. Together, you might have a presentation piece worth more than the sum of the parts.
