NYT Great Songs of Lennon & McCartney

I found your website by searching for "John Lennon & Paul McCartney autograph." I am interested in finding out how to go about certifying and authenticating my autograph and finding its value. Not so much to sell, but to understand the value of what I have! My hope is to preserve it keeping it in good condition and eventually hand it down to family... But meantime, what a great conversation piece to have in my possession!

I'm so excited; like yourself, I never understood until I held that (signed autograph) in my hands! This is my 1st time owning something like this, & I believe I'm hooked! Just knowing how loved they were by millions of fans, and here I have something that takes you back in time, (both of their signed autographs together on one page!) and to be one of the few to have something so cool!

What I have is NYT Great songs of Lennon & McCartney song book, 1st edition by Milton Okun, Quadrangle/The New York Times Book co., published 1973; all musical compositions by John Lennon & Paul McCartney... The book has both John Lennon & Paul McCartney signed autograph together on the same page, last page of the book, how cool is that!!

"At least that's what I'm trying to find out if the signatures are authentic." By matching website autographs, it looks like I have an ace in the hole; but just want to verify it! The book itself is pretty neat & in good condition, but something about having both their autographs makes it complete & exciting!

Whatever information you can share with me I certainly will appreciate!

Thank you for reading & taking the time to reply.

Printed Autograph - What's it worth?
by: Serge

I also have the same book and its autographs of Lennon and McCartney. They are one on top of the other and they seem to be part of the printing. But still nice to have and cherish. Ive had the book for at least 35 years.

To see this book for sale at Amazon for 6.95 or other book stores for as low as 1.99 is frustrating because these are a wonderful legacy to leave to a family member.

These books with the signature should be valued in the thousands. Oh well, I happy i have my original 1973 signed copy, even if it was a printed signature.

John Lennon and Paul McCartney Autographs
by: Bill

I am not familiar with that song book, but if you have McCartney and Lennon's autograph on the same page, you have a valuable book. John Lennon's signature alone is worth $1500+. Paul McCartney's is worth $500+. On the same page, you might be able to double that. Autographs on something Beatles related are worth even more. How much more could only be determined by what a collector would pay.

The Beatles broke up in 1970. Lennon and McCartney got together only rarely after that. Even though they were both friendly on occasion to autograph collectors, I don't think they signed anything together after the Beatles break up. So if your autographs are authentic, they were almost certainly signed on separate occasions. That means that if the autographs look similar in appearance - same type pen and color, you probably have preprints. In other words, the autographs are a part of the printing process. Also, if they are side-by-side and roughly the same size, they are likely to be preprints.

It's not always easy to tell a preprint. On something like a song book, you might be able to tell by looking at the signature with a magnifying glass. If you see a dot pattern, you have a preprint.

If you want to have them authenticated, the two most popular places for that are JSA and PSA/DNA.

I hope they are authentic. Beatles autographs are in a class all their own.
