Nixon Family Farewell Card

by Barry Marc
(Cincinnati, OH)

I have a card sent out by Richard Nixon with a family photograph on the front, a typed message on the back and what appears to be an original signature "Dick Nixon" in pen.

Text of the card reads:

"As we leave Washington, Pat and I want to express our appreciation for the privilege of spending fourteen memorable years in the nation's capital and for your friendship and support in the campaign of 1960."

January 20, 1961

Does this card have any value on the autograph market?

Nixon Family Card
by: Bill

Richard Nixon had vacated the office of vice-president under Eisenhower the day before that card was dated. He had also just lost the presidential election to John F. Kennedy.

The card might have some value as political memorabilia, but not as an autograph. It is probably a preprint. If not that, it is an autopenned signature.

Even if Nixon had have had the time to personally sign correspondence during that time, he wouldn't have been in the mood.
