My Tony Gwynn Autograph

by Justin Martin
(St.Charles, Missouri, USA)

During batting practice when the San Diego Padres were in town to play the St Louis Cardinals, Tony Gwynn hit a home run that struck me right in the head. This was when I was about nine years old (now I'm twenty six).

At that time my aunt was a flight attendant for TWA Airlines and flew with different teams. She approached Tony and told him my story. He signed a TWA cloth napkin that reads, "Justin, sorry about your head, best wishes Tony Gwynn." Before she gave it to me, she went and bought a frame for it and it's been in there ever since.

Tony Gwynn Autograph

That's a great story. The TWA napkin is collectible on its on since the airline is no longer in business. Collectors of both airline memorabilia and baseball autographs might be interested in the autograph.

A Tony Gwynn signature on a paper or card is worth $30.

If I had gotten the autograph under the same circumstances, and I still had the ticket stub from the game, I'd frame the napkin with the ticket.
