My Favorite Autograph from John Lennon

by Stephanie Breaux
(Bloomfield, IN, USA)

I have one amazing memory as a teenager about John Lennon. It was when I was only 13 years old and The Beatles were just beginning to become a household name in America. I had obtained two tickets to a Beatles Concert being held in my home state of California. I was very excited and I decided to invite my best friend, Jessica, along.

The summer night I had waited for finally arrived. When I got to the concert hall there were people lined up for what seemed like miles waiting to get in to get a glimpse of The Beatles onstage. I was pretty impressed. I knew they were popular but I did not realize they were this huge!

Several hours later the concert started and I was able to view The Beatles on stage. They were fantastic! It was amazing to see them perform. After a long concert I thought the night was over but to my surprise The Beatles decided to greet the fans and sign autographs! I was amazed!

I waited in line and finally made it to the front. I was so giddy with excitement - I probably looked quite ignorant to them, at least that is what I was thinking to myself. I asked them if they would sign my shirt, and all of them did. But that is what was not the best part - the best part was that John Lennon turned to me and told me I was quite a cute girl! Really?! THE John Lennon told me I was cute?! I was speechless! I know I must have been blushing pretty heavily at this point. I didn't know what to say. He smiled and signed my shirt with a heart even!

To this day, I still remember that moment. I will probably never forget the day that John Lennon told me I was "cute." Ever since then I've been a loyal fan of John Lennon. I even have the shirt that they signed hung up on my wall. My family thinks it's tacky but it has meaning to me.
