Mike Love Autographed baseball

The Beach Boys performed a free after game concert yesterday (Memorial Day) at Turner Field (Atlanta Braves). After the concert (on the field) Mike Love starts walking toward the outfield where he was supposed to exit a door in right field. I knew my only chance to get to him was to run across the bleachers to those seats right by that door.

Because that section was empty, it was quite easy to navigate. No one else had the idea. I was there as he was about to leave and I handed him a baseball and Sharpie marker. He looked to make sure no one else had my idea, signed it quickly, and left. NO ONE ELSE GOT AN AUTOGRAPH! Whether it is worth anything or not, it is a great memory.

Mike Love Autographed Baseball

There are collectors of sutographed baseballs who try to get as many signed balls as they can of celebrities, regardless of whether or not they were associated with the sport.

I think Mike Love was probably the only founding member of the Beach Boys to play that concert. Bruce Johnston, if he was there, joined a few years later years later.

A Mike Love signed photo sells in the $25 - $50 range, depending on the photo and when it was signed. Because there are so few of them, a signed baseball might be worth above that range. Make sure you keep any ticket stubs and other ephemera associated with the event.
