Lane Brody composed her first song, "Through the Darkness" when she was only twelve years old. By age 18, she was on her way to New York City where she was discovered by Bobby Whiteside. From there, she moved to Chicago where she worked as a model and sang TV jingles.

In 1976, she recorded her first song, "You're Gonna Make Love to Me," under the name "Lynn Miles". In 1981, she moved to California and signed with Liberty Records. There, she wrote and recorded the song "He's Taken." That song and her next song, "More Nights" made the record charts. Also in 1981, she guest starred on the TV sitcom Taxi. The following year she was nominated for an Emmy for the song "Just a Little More Love" from the CBS Movie of the Week The Gift of Life.

In 1983, she charted "Over You" from the movie Tender Mercies. In 1984, her duet with Johnny Lee, "The Yellow Rose," made it all the way to number one on the country charts. "The Yellow Rose" was the theme song for the NBC Series of the same name.

In 1985, Lane's self-titled debut album produced two hits, "He Burns Me Up" and another duet with Johnny Lee, "I Could Get Used to This."

She has appeared on stage and in the studios with a diverse array of talent, including Dottie West, Tammy Wynette, Grandpa Jones, Eddie Rabbitt, Keith Whitley, Merle Travis, Johnny Mathis and Bob Seger, to name just a few.
