John Lennon Autograph with doodle faces of him & Yoko

by Gary B
(Jersey City, NJ, USA)

In 1971 my wife, age 16 at the time, had a boyfriend named Mike. Mike's mother had done some work or service (not sure what)for John Lennon. John autographed a soft cover book entitled "The Beatles words without music" published in 1968 by Grosset & Dunlap.

The autograph is: To Mike love from John Lennon, below John's signature are two "doodle" type faces John drew, one of himself, the other of Yoko and is dated 71. in a circle.

As she was then a huge Lennon fan, and still is to this day, Mike gave her the book. 40 years later, while clearing for a move, we found it!

While we haven't any reason to doubt its authenticity, we'd like to know how to authenticate it and learn its value.

Scan is attached.

John Lennon
by: Bill

What a great gift from the old boyfriend. I wander if he would have given it away, knowing what its future value would be? I'd put he value at $2500, more if the right buyer sees it.

Guess what - now I own it!
by: Robert

It turned up on eBay and I had the good fortune to land it...it's a fabulous item with one terrific early post-Beatles John Lennon signature. A treasured piece in my Beatles autograph collection! And to respond to Bill's comment - the "right" collector did acquire it. :-)
