Isaac Asimov

I have a third edition (1971) of Isaac Asimov's "Treasure of Humor" in excellent condition, with the sci-fi giant's grandiose signature inside the front cover. Any thoughts as to the value of this item?

Thanks, Bill; your perspective here is very helpful. I do have an autographed 'wine label' from Ray Bradbury in '86, from a 2000 'vintage' of Dandelion Wine...but it was a response to my first-ever fan letter, so it has great sentimental value. Won't be selling that one. Heh. The Asimov autograph is more a curio, but I would happily part with it for the right price. I'll look into eBay in the coming weeks, see what happens. Thanks again!

If this were the only autograph I wanted to sell at the moment, I would try eBay first. Dealers will probably not be interested in just one item, and many of them hang out on eBay anyway.

The main problem with an auction format for collectibles, is that it is often difficult to get a few bidders at one time. An item like this sometimes brings more in an eBay store where it can sit awhile at a fixed price. An eBay store needs a few hundred items in it to make it worthwhile though. That gets back to the difficulty of moving just one relatively low priced item.

This does help; I hate to list it on eBay, that strikes me as so over-saturated with junk. Any other suggestions? Asimov fan pages?

I am not sure about the collectible value of the book, but here are Isaac Asimov autograph values:

Signature: $50
Typed Signed Letter: $150
Signed Photo: $100

Unless your book has a value beyond its original publication price, it will fall somewhere in that price range.

Asimov signed tens of thousands of autographs during his many years as a writer, many of them on the more than 500 books that he wrote.
