Huge Collection of Original Signed Celebrity Letters

by Chris
(Pasadena, CA)

In January 2008, renowned Hollywood producer/director Herbert Kenwith passed away after a long battle with cancer. The executors of his estate planned to sell his belongings in an estate sale at his Beverly Hills home, however my husband (an antique dealer) happened to be in the right place at the right time, and bought the entire lot of goods before the sale occurred.

Included in the estate was a binder full of original, celebrity-signed letters, some hand-written, some typed, dated from 1949-1951, all written to Herbert Kenwith on the actors' original letterhead stationary. Most of the letters were in response to Kenwith's invitation to take part in the Summer Festival playhouse productions that Kenwith was directing at the McCarter Theater in Princeton, New Jersey at that time.

I am not a collector of celebrity memorabilia myself, so I plan to sell this collection. I prefer to keep the binder intact as a complete collection and sell it to someone who would truly appreciate the history behind the experience that Herbert Kenwith shared with so many of his famous Hollywood theater and film star friends. If anyone out there is a true-blue collector, feel free to comment!
