Encyclopedia of Science Fiction

This is a book with a forward in it by Isaac Asimov, and his autograph is on the forward. It has its dust cover and is in fairly good condition. The spine is broken in one place, but all pages are intact. A friend gave me the book because I am a lover of science fiction. It is dated 1978. I am curious if it is worth anything.

Encyclopedia of Science Fiction Signed by Isaac Asmi
by: Bill

Isaac Asimov, was one of history's most prolific writers. He authored about 500 books. Although science fiction was his specialty, his writing touched on almost every subject imaginable. His breadth of knowledge was astounding. His friend Kurt Vonnegut once asked him, ""How does it feel to know everything?"

He usually wrote ten books a year, but still found time to write 400 articles for Fantasy and Science Fiction magazine. He wrote tens of thousands of letters in his lifetime. He stayed busy on the lecture circuit and taught biochemistry at Columbia University. One reason he had time for all of that was that he avoided many other things that most of us have no problem doing, like swimming or riding a bicycle (he never learned how to do either). He also avoided airplanes and too much open space.

Asimov did take the time to answer his own fan mail, and he got a lot of it. A day of writing for him was 7:30 in the morning until 10 at night, so it probably wasn't that hard to work it into his schedule.

An Issac Asimov signature is worth about $50. A signed photo is worth about $100.

Your book at retail is worth in the $100 - $150 range.
