Ella Fitzgerald Autograph

by Terry Anderson
(Saratoga Springs, NY)

My grandfather left a booklet of autographs from various musicians. The only dates are from 1937 and 1938. The only name I recognize is Ella Fitzgerald. Other names include Ray Pearl, Roy Elelvielge, Jack Carlton, Charlotte Kaye, Dorsey Anderson, and others. Not sure where he collected them from, but he was living in Western NY at the time.

Is it worth anything?

Ella Fitzgerald

Yes, the book is worth something. The only name that I am familiar with is Ella Fitzgerald. Her autograph is worth $100, and it is not a real easy one to find. I am assuming the autograph is on a blank piece of paper. Had it been on a photo, even a small one, it would be worth $300+.

I am sure a jazz collector would love to have the other autographs also. They were probably recognizable names in their time, and a serious jazz fan would probably know the names today.
