Dick Francis

The late Dick Francis remains my favorite mystery author. Many years ago, before he retired from book signings, he came to Atlanta to sign his book Wild Horses. I was unable to attend as I had a final exam that night, so I called the bookstore to reserve a copy. They asked my name for the reservation, but said they couldn't guarantee a personalized copy.

The next weekend I had free I drove the hour to Atlanta for my book. Imagine my surprise to see "Hi, Kathryn!" next to his signature. I regret never getting to meet the man who inspired me to write, but I'll treasure this signature.
