Davey Allison

I met Davey Allison back in 1992 at a local gas station with my grandparents. He was my favorite race car driver and I had just started getting into racing as a little boy. It meant so much to me cause I loved hanging out with my grandparents cause they were truly the best people in the world to me.

I must have waited in line about 3 hrs to meet him. He was a stand-up guy a real nice person. He even chatted with my pap for twenty minutes. I'm surprised people in the line didn't get mad. I was pretty young at the time so I didn't really understand how great of a racer he was or what racing was really about, but now i know and he was a true racer at heart.

The sad part was we lost him a few months after I met him. It's sad to lose someone so early and not see how much they could have accomplished, but I know that he could have went on and had a status similar to a Dale Earnhardt or Jeff Gordon.

Three hours is quite a wait, but since meeting Davey Allison meant so much to you I'm sure it was worth the time.

I agree with your belief that Davey would have reached the upper echelon of NASCAR racing legends.

He was certainly on his way with 19 wins and 92 top ten finishes.

I'm sure the sentimental value is worth more than the monetary value, but if you had Davey sign a photo or trading card it is worth about $120 at retail. A signature is worth $100.
