Al Capp Autographs

Al Capp Autograph

Al Capp was the creator of Li'l Abner. Capp's first strip appeared during the Great Depression, in 1934. Many consider Li'l Abner to be the greatest comic strip of all time. Capp created a bunch of hillbillies to entertain the masses with his political beliefs. That is no small feat - especially considering that Li'l Abner fans didn't care when his politics moved from liberal to conservative. The comic strip lasted 43 years, spinning off a radio serial, a Broadway musical, two movies, and Dogpatch U.S.A. a theme park in Arkansas that was in operation for 25 years.

Most dealers will charge in the $75 - $100 range for a signed card. Signed photos will sell for about $250. Signed drawings will start at around $300. The signed piece that I own is a contract rider dated May 23, 1950. Dealers would probably charge around $200 for this. I picked it up on eBay for about $40.
