1965 and 1967 Kansas City A's Team Signed Baseballs

by Joseph G. Swallow
(Aurora, Oregon)

I have two baseballs:

1. 1965 Kansas City A's entire team signed baseball, and

2. 1967 Kansas City A's entire team signed baseball.

I have several more along with a lot of baseball odds and ends. My father, Ray R. Swallow, served as farm director and director of scouting for the Kansas City A's from 1959 through 1968, when he quit to work for the Seattle Pilots.

I am thinking of putting these up for sale and don't even have a clue as to their value.

Kansas City A's Team Signed Baseball

I asked collector Chris Coleman to answer your question. This is his response:

Satchel Paige should be the only thing, value-wise, you care about on the 1965 ball. Paige played one game with the A's in 1965. With the 1967 ball, Catfish Hunter and Reggie Jackson are the key autographs. Depending on whether it was signed in ST, Vida Blue, and Rollie Fingers could also be on it. So with all that said, 1965 with Paige anywhere from $600 to $1900, depending on the condition of the ball and the autographs. Paige was rumored to be around 60 years old when he played in that one game. With the '67 ball, anywhere from $200 to 500 depending on the condition of the baseball and autographs. It should have Reggie Jackson's rookie year autograph on it. If one were to sale the '65 ball, I would send it to JSA.
