11"x 14" Pen and Ink Drawing by Robert Ripley

I have a Pen and Ink drawing of one of Robert Ripley's "Believe it or not" newspaper strip, dated Feb. 1936. It is signed by Ripley, and a message is written to my uncle, who was a famous playwrite and author, Jack Lait.

There is a rip on the right side and some small spots across the top. The document was in a fire in the early 70's. I assume it happened then.

This has been in my family for as long as I can remember. I will get the document repaired but I didn't want to do anything with it until I spoke to an expert. I have sent pictures. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Robert Ripley

It is difficult to estimate a value for your Robert Ripley drawing. It's a nice item, but much of the value is going to be contingent on subject matter. Celebrities and sports stars that are still well known today are going to appeal to more collectors than a drawing with generic subjects and forgotten celebrities. I would value the drawing at $500+.

Robert Ripley autograph values, at retail:

Signature: $150
Signed Photo: $200
Signed Book: $200 - $400 (values vary with book title, edition, and condition).
